Community

Building a strong community is one of the core values of Gruyere Primary School.  This happens in many ways:

  • Children develop a network of friends in the local Yarra Valley community
  • Weekly newsletter delivered either electronically or via the children
  • Enjoyable working bees to maintain the school grounds to a high standard
  • Regular parents’ morning tea/lunches
  • Opportunities for classroom involvement
  • Past students return for work experience and volunteer opportunities
  • Formal Parent–Teacher-Student conferences are conducted half way through the school year, with comprehensive written reports distributed twice a year. Parents are able to make appointments to discuss academic progress at any time
  • Parents are encouraged to come forward with any issues or concerns immediately, fostering open channels of communication
  • Close association with the local community including the Gruyere CFA and Gruyere Hall
